estate agents don’t always have a great name amongst home sellers and
buyers, they are often known for just saying whatever it take in order
to sell a home. Whether we like it or not we all need a real estate
agent, they help you in areas where you would struggle by yourself. They
set up meetings, find houses appropriate for you, negotiate prices and
deal with the legal bits. So the best thing you can do is find the best
estate agent for you, although, this is not that easy – there are
hundreds of agents and companies. Never choose an agent without looking
around and doing full research. What are the best things to look out
for?

The ability to answer questions

How
much do they know about the industry, but more specifically about the
area you are looking to invest in. They should be able to tell you how
many houses have been sold in the area and what the average price is.
Look at how the different realtors answer your questions, do they get
irritated or try to oversell? You can easily tell when someone is saying
facts or making something up to get you on board.

Are they trustworthy

This
is difficult to assess on your first time meeting the realtor, but
perhaps you have heard good things about this agent from someone who has
dealt with them before. From the first meeting, however, you should be
able to tell whether you want to deal with this person for the next few
months and did you get a feeling that they are looking out for your best
interests. Did they talk about commission on the first day? This should
be a concern, because they are making it about them.

Get references

The
best thing you can do is ask the realtors for references from clients
they have had good experiences with, if they don’t have any clients
contact numbers to give you, then this is a sure sign that are not good
enough. Listen to the neighborhood talk about the different real estate
agencies, word of mouth is where you get the honest truth.

Communication

How
quickly after the initial meeting do they follow up with and do they
already have information on your home? Can they explain the buying
process in a clear manner that you understand what is going on,
especially when it comes to complicated things like transfer duty fees
and how to use a bond repayment calculator? Are they able to understand
what you are looking for in a home, this is crucial as you don’t want to
waste time looking at a home that is not suitable for you.
